Janneke Parrish, now a former Apple employee and one of the top leaders of the #AppleToo movement, was fired by the Cupertino company. According to information from The Verge, Parrish lost his job for deleting files from your working devices. These files were apparently part of an internal investigation. The company considers this type of behavior as a breach of its rules, as it would have hindered the development of said investigation.
Among the files Parrish deleted are apps like Google Drive, Robinhood, and Pokemon go. Clearly, Apple’s decision has caused controversy internally. The aforementioned medium adds that some employees consider this to be retaliation towards the former employee for being part of the #AppleToo organization.
The movement, which began in August of this year, uncovered some experiences of discrimination, improper treatment and sexual harassment within the company, a situation that has damaged the image of one of the most important technology companies in the world. A good part of the accusations have been shared through @AppleLaborers, from which they link to the publications that employees have made on platforms such as Medium. Others have preferred to attend interviews in local media.
Apple’s internal problems beyond #AppleToo
The truth is that this is not the first time that Apple has been involved in an internal problem. Without going any further, in September Ashley Gjøvik, who was accused of leaking confidential information, was fired. The Cupertinos are known to have a serious problem keeping certain information secret. Some related to products that still do not see the light, and another that exposes the “private” communications that circulate within the company.
At the end of September, an email was leaked in which Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, informed employees that they are working to identify those responsible for the leaks. “As you know, we do not tolerate the disclosure of confidential information, be it the intellectual property of a product or details of a confidential meeting. We know that leakers constitute a small number of people. We also know that people who leak confidential information do not belong here“said the manager.
