After so many rumors and speculations, Apple has made it official. He sideloading and third-party app stores will come to iPhone starting in March. The company has confirmed it through their websitewhere he explained how he will comply with the new Digital Markets Law of the European Union.
This will be, without a doubt, the most radical change in the history of the Apple ecosystem. A modification that those from Cupertino would surely have preferred to never have to implement, but that is required by the new regulations, which will come into effect on March 7.
But sideloading and third-party app stores aren’t the only changes coming to the iPhone. Those from Apple have also confirmed modifications to their App Store to allow applications use third party payment methods and for users to complete the transaction on an external website.
Furthermore, it will be specified the long-awaited opening of the iPhone’s NFC chip so that its use is no longer exclusive to Apple Pay. This means that wallets and banking applications will be able to access an API to take advantage of the aforementioned component, to integrate the contactless payment option on the device.
He sideloading and changes to iPhone app distribution will be available in iOS 17.4, the next version of Apple’s operating system. The company indicated that the functions will reach the 27 countries of the European Union in March.
