Although the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are not even a month old since their launch, Apple is already taking measures so that the launch of the iPhone 15 do not have any setbacks; at least when it comes to marketing in physical stores.
That a new generation of the iPhone will arrive during the last months of 2023 is not a secret to anyone. In fact, it is usual that, after the launch of a new iPhone, immediately after – even before – rumors about it arise. However, this time Apple has made a move too far in advance.
According to MacRumors, those in Cupertino have already notified their employees of the Apple Store in the United Kingdom that they cannot take days off from September 15 to October 7, 2023; nor between December 2 of the same year and the beginning of 2024. In the first period, the company expects to have great activity in its stores, surely due to the launch of the iPhone 15. The second is due to the Christmas season and the high sales of the same.
While it’s common for Apple to send these notices to its employees before a new iPhone hits the market, it’s typically weeks in advance, not an entire year. Even the workers themselves are somewhat surprised by the situation, although they understand that the company intends to be better prepared to face the high demand for the iPhone 15.
So now we know that Apple wants to release the iPhone 15 on Friday, September 15, 2023 —curiously, the day coincides with the generation of the device—. Of course, there are many factors that come into play for the company to determine this important date. Therefore, changes to the calendar are not ruled out. After all, it’s almost a full year away, and in today’s world, there are many unexpected obstacles that can come your way.
The iPhone 15 will get on the USB-C train
There is another crucial detail of the iPhone 15 that we already know beyond its possible release date. If all the reports that have emerged in recent months are correct, It will be the first iPhone to say goodbye to the Lightning port in favor of USB-C. Now, that decision is due to a European regulation, not so much to the desire of Apple.
As you surely know, at the end of September the European Union approved, for better or for worse, the common charging port for all smartphones. This standard establishes that manufacturers are required to incorporate USB-C in all their new terminals. Apple, therefore, had no room to maneuver and will have to jump on the bandwagon – worldwide – of said standard to avoid problems.
That’s the real reason the iPhone 15 and future models will have USB-C. “We remain concerned that strict regulation requiring only one type of connector stifles rather than encourages innovation, which in turn will harm consumers in Europe and around the world,” Apple said of the rule.
