North American athletes Andre de Grasse and Traivon Bromell are top favorites to clinch gold in the men’s 100-meter athletics category. The Canadian signed the best mark of the previous series with a time of 9 seconds and 91 hundredths, while the American had some complications and reached the semifinals through the repechage.
Andre de Grasse, who won the bronze medal in the 100 meters and the silver in the 200 at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, is presented as the great favorite despite the fact that Traivon Bromell has the best time in 2021 with 9 seconds and 77 hundredths. The latter agreed as the fourth of his series after not falling below 10 seconds (10.05).
The next medal contenders are the American Ronnie Baker, who signed a time of 10 seconds and 3 hundredths, and the African Akani Simbine, who was left with 10 seconds and 8 hundredths, and they also made it to the semifinals.
Dethrone Usain Bolt
The Jamaican athlete played his last Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, leaving a stamp for history with him triple-triple: won the gold medal in 100 and 200 meters and in the 4×100 meter relay. Despite retiring in 2017, Bolt’s shadow is still very long: holds the Olympic records of 100 (9.63 seconds) and 200 meters (19.19 seconds).
The Jamaican, in fact, holds the world record (9.58 seconds) and the Olympic record (9.63 seconds) in the men’s 100-meter dash category.. His compatriot Yohan Blake came very close to achieving the record in London 2012: achieved the third best Olympic mark, just behind Usain Bolt in the fight for the medals.
