Andorra continues its process as candidate to host the Alpine Skiing World Championships in 2027. For the first time, the four applicants have seen each other in Vilamoura, Portugal. It has been the International Ski Federation (FIS) who has made the call to publicize the people who will be in charge of the inspections of the candidacies of Crans Montana (SUI), Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER), Narvik (NOR) and Andorra, including the director of the FIS, Philippe Gueisbuhler.
During three days, the Andorran delegation headed by the general director of the candidacy, David Hidalgo and the Director of Hospitality, Àlex Orué have been able to visit the facilities and promotional spaces where the FIS annual congress will take place at the end of next May, at which time the 2027 World Cup headquarters will be voted on by the 17 members of the council of the international federation.
During the stay in the Portuguese town, the FIS has also transferred the ‘fair play’ rules to be followed by the candidates during the promotion months, as well as the calendar of the next steps such as the autumn meeting that usually takes place in Zurich, to be held on September 28, in a telematic way, and in which Andorra will present and receive a first assessment of its proposal by a committee of FIS experts.
