The Los Angeles Auto Show, one of the most prestigious in the sector, is beginning to give us relevant news for electric mobility. Lucida manufacturer of fully electrified vehicles and one of Tesla’s main competitors, presented he Gravity, an SUV that aspires to gain ground on luxury brands. But beyond its design premium and high quality materials, its technical features are also promising.
The presentation of the Lucid Gravity is a big step for the California company, since it is its second model after the successful Lucid Air. However, to expand their market, this time they opted for a completely different car segment, that of SUVs. As you surely know, it is one of the most popular worldwide, especially among those who have families.
The Lucid Gravity is a large SUV. 500 cm long x 200 wide x 165 high. The distance from the body to the ground, for its part, is 15 centimeters. Its total cargo capacity is 3,117 liters.
Inside, it offers space for up to 7 passengers. The manufacturer claims that everyone can travel perfectly comfortably—even those in the third row—and we have no doubt that this is the case thanks to the images. It is a fairly spacious vehicle.
We might think that its dimensions will harm its agility, but this is not the case. The Lucid platform has allowed us to achieve a technical achievement in this sense. “At Lucid, we believe in pushing the boundaries of design. We have built on this belief to maximize space, aerodynamic efficiency and utility, resulting in an electric SUV with a combination of attributes never seen before,” he says. the brand, and adds:
“Whether it’s a load-bearing SUV for family trips or long drives that cover hundreds of miles between stops, Gravity is designed to be versatile. Our team’s dedication to creating an SUV that seamlessly fuses form and function has given “The result is a visually striking vehicle that is incredibly versatile and provides a very elevated luxury driving experience.”
Lucid.
In its cabin, the Lucid Gravity is all minimalism, luxury and technology. What stands out, above all, is an enormous 34 curved OLED panel inches above the steering wheel that extends to the middle of the dashboard. This shows a fully digitalized instrument panel, but on the right side it also gives space to the infotainment system so that the co-pilot can interact with it.
Below this panel is a second screen of up to 22″ in the central part, also for controls of the Lucid Air. The steering wheel, for its part, is located in a lower position than we are used to.. This with the aim of being able to view your instrument panel without any obstacles.
Let’s now go to the specifications sheet revealed so far. I emphasize “so far” because multiple key characteristics remain to be known. For now, we know that the Lucid Gravity integrates a battery whose capacity is similar to that of the Lucir Air. That is, of 113 kWh. Autonomy, therefore, can extend beyond the 700 kilometers. Of course, it will be compatible with the standard fast chargewhich will allow you to recharge, in just 15 minutes, enough to advance about 320 kilometers.
If everything goes as planned, Lucid Gravity will be available at the end of 2024. Its price? There is still no concrete information, but the company says that will start below $80,000 dollars.
