The Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) was also instructed to update the general bases for assigning landing and takeoff times at airports in saturation conditions.
Despite the measure, the declarations of airspace saturation (issued in 2014) and terminals (issued in 2021) will remain in force.
The measure goes beyond the agreement reached by the airlines and the federal government in May 2022, in which it was proposed to move only the domestic cargo and charter operations of the AICM to the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).
At that time, it was also agreed to increase AIFA flights to 100 daily operations, which triggered the opening of several routes by Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobus and Volaris.
