amd launched its new line of processors Ryzen 8000G for desktop computers. The Phoenix series is characterized by being the first to have a artificial intelligence coprocessor (NPU) on a desktop computer. With this, the manufacturer seeks to enhance AI tasks while offering attractive performance for players.
The new Ryzen 8000G are focused on those looking to build a cheap device for work or entertainment. The Phoenix series is compatible with AM5 socket and integrates a Zen 4 CPU, XDNA NPU and RDNA 3 integrated graphics. The offer is made up of four processors, of which only two models include the artificial intelligence coprocessor.
The AMD Ryzen 7 8600G offers 6 cores and 12 threads, 22 MB cache and a clock speed that reaches 5 GHz (Boost). This APU has integrated Radeon 760M graphics and a power consumption of 65 W. On the other hand, the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G arrives with 8 cores and 16 threads, 24 MB cache and 5.1 GHz clock speed (Boost). This model is intended for those looking for the highest graphics performance, so they will be able to take advantage of the integrated Radeon 780M graphics.
The Phoenix series arrives as a replacement for the famous Ryzen 5000G, launched in mid-2021 and which quickly became an affordable option for playing at 1080p. AMD is once again ahead of Intel and takes a step in the right direction with its new processors. The 8000G range is not only more powerful than its predecessor, but also cheaper.
The only models that do not have support for artificial intelligence are the Ryzen 5 8500G and Ryzen 3 8300G, the latter for OEM computers.
AMD does not forget about AM4 and launches the Ryzen 7 5700X3D
Another important announcement from CES 2024 has to do with the update to the 5000 series of desktop processors. The manufacturer does not forget its AM4 platform and launched the new AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D processorfocused on gaming. The 8-core, 16-thread chip offers a maximum speed of 4.1 GHz (Boost), 100 MB cache, support for DDR4-3200 RAM and power consumption that does not exceed 105 W.
According to AMD, the Ryzen 7 5700XD surpasses the Intel Core i5 13600K — one of the best processors for gaming — in titles like Control, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Red Dead Redemption 2, Rainbow Six Siege and Dying Light 2, to name a few. In terms of hardware, It is a Ryzen 7 5800X3D with a lower clock speedbut maintains all the options that distinguish its younger brother.
The $249 processor is an attractive option for those who want a mid-range computer for gaming. It is important to mention that the Ryzen 7 5700X3D does not have integrated graphics. It also does not include a heatsink, so you will have to purchase an additional fan or cooling solution.
The new 5000 series offering also adds the Ryzen 7 5700 and the Ryzen 5 5600GT and 5500GT processors, the latter with Radeon graphics.
