In its section called “Quality Studies”, of the Consumer Magazine of September 2021, it is detailed that said analysis was carried out under the premise that, since they are products that offer alcohol for a low price, there are doubts about whether it really they comply with what they offer.
The research found that several of the drinks studied do not, either in ingredients, percentage of alcohol or both.
Profeco detailed that 41 brands of alcohol were analyzed, to which 343 tests were performed in a period from March 23 to July 15, 2021, to verify that they comply with the NOM-002-SCFI-2011 standards, related to packaged products, net content, tolerances and verification methods, and NOM-142-SSA01 / SCFI-2014, which has to do with alcoholic beverages, sanitary specifications, and sanitary and commercial labeling.
Six cane liqueurs, one gin, two cane distillates, two charandas, five rum, three brandy, 12 agave liqueurs, six vodkas, one flavored agave liqueur, and three whiskey were analyzed.
