The leading company in Spain specializing in passive construction industrialized ARQUIMA, recently presented one of its latest residential projects located in the municipality of Esporles, west of Majorca, Balearic Islands. A beautiful town, located in the Sierra de Tramuntana, which retains its original charm, with typical houses and winding streets.
This residential project, of simple lines and geometric volumes, is developed in 3 heights: ground floor, first floor and basement and consists of 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The entrance door, the fence and what we see from the street before entering, is a perfect combination of white and Classic Blue, the typical Greek blue.
The house, which has passive house certification and with a built area of 433 square meters, it has been designed by the architect Catalina Sastre Martorellin collaboration with the technical architect and delegate of ARCHIMA in the Balearic Islands, Joan Brunet.
Everyone knows that in recent years, this type of housing has been very well received by the significant energy savings they entail, but also because of the growing collective awareness of how the use of natural materials in construction, such as wood, improve our health and that of the planet.
In this specific case, the ground floor and the first level are presented as a geometric volume with small windows located to the north and large windows facing south. The house has a thermal insulation system exterior (SATE) with a white mineral plaster, typical of the area, which covers the ground floor and the first floor.
This new house by ARQUIMA is quite a temple of ecological materialswith spacious rooms bathed in natural light and with a color palette of authentic Mediterranean spirit: white, blue and the green of the environment.
The envelope of the project has been carried out using the ARQUIMA system, a light framework of industrialized wood both in the envelope, as well as in the structure and in the interior partitions. A system that significantly reduces delivery times compared to traditional construction and makes it very easy to meet basic principles of Passivhaus: great thermal insulation, exterior-tight envelope, control of thermal bridges, use of high-performance carpentry and installation of controlled mechanical ventilation with heat recovery.
To give you an idea as far as deadlines are concerned, this house by ARQUIMA factory built in two weeks and the assembly of the enclosure was carried out ‘in situ’ in just five days. The owners of the house will see their needs for heating or cooling the interior air reduced by 80% compared to a traditionally built house and they will not suffer from drafts inside. The temperature does not vary from one room to another, but remains constant between 22 and 24 degrees, offering the inhabitants of the house a plus of comfort.
How could it be otherwise, the owners have opted for a mediterranean style decoration: with a minimalist point, based on light and neutral tones and in harmony with the nature of the environment. The large windows on the south side, with views of the Sierra de Tramuntana, offer a great feeling of spaciousness and naturalness, merging the interior and exterior of the house.
In the kitchen, open and functional in style, the decorative natural wood beams of the ceiling and the enclosures, also in a wood color, combine perfectly and contrast with the white of the walls, ceilings, furniture and countertops. The decoration is complemented by a large-format rustic ceramic flooring, in neutral tones and for underfloor heating, which provides spaciousness to the space. Other details such as Majorcan shutters in blue, multicolored hydraulic tiles as cladding in the bathroom and natural light in all the rooms of the house, they give an original and warm touch to the whole house.
This new ARQUIMA residential project, once again, reflects its work philosophy and that the company is faithful to its commitment to energy and economic savings, environmental protection and human health.
