The next Apple event will take place on October 18 and everything indicates that we will see the long-awaited 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M1X chip. The characteristics of these models have been appearing on the net for months, but, even a few days after their official announcement, we still continue to receive possible details about them. This time, related to the screen. And it is that a new rumor suggests that the two models they could come with a 120 Hz panel like the iPhone 13 Pro or iPad Pro.

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, ensures that MacBook Pros with M1X will have a mini-LED display. This technology, present in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, would offer better contrast and more realistic blacks compared to the LCD screens of the current MacBook Pro. In fact, the Mini-LED screen of these computers has been rumored for a while . Some sources, in addition, have indicated that its complicated production has been the cause of a late launch, since it was planned that these teams were launched during WWDC.

Young also mentions that the screens on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros will be manufactured by LG Display and Sharp, the same companies that produce the panels of the iPad Pro. I therefore believe that the MacBook Pro M1X could also have a refresh rate of 120 Hz. However, and unlike Mini-LED technology, it is not as resounding in his statement. If it does happen, it is likely that the Cupertino firm includes technology similar to that of the iPhone. That is, with the possibility of adapting the refresh rate depending on the content displayed on the screen.

Beyond screen technology, a new rumor notes that MacBook Pros with an M1X chip could come with a base configuration of 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD. The current models with an M1 chip, remember, start from 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD. On the other hand, the initial processor configuration is expected to be the same on both models. This could affect – for the better – the price of both versions, making it not so different to choose between 14 and 16 inches.

MacBook Pros with M1X would also include a webcam with 1080p resolution. This would greatly improve the quality of video calls. The bezels surrounding the new team’s screen are also expected to be smaller, as well as the introduction of a new charging connector.
