Jason Sudeikis last night won the Golden Globe for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series” in the “Comedy” category for his lead role in the Apple TV + series “Ted Lasso”.
This is the first such award for an Apple program.
A first award for Apple at the Golden Globe
In this series, which aired in the summer of 2020, Sudeikis plays the main character Ted Lasso, a small college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional football team in England, although he has no experience in this profession.
The series received a shower of positive reviews, not least thanks to Lasso’s relentless positivity and humor, something heartwarming in these difficult times in the world.

The annual Golden Globe Awards recognize the best of American and international cinema and American television, chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This is the first Golden Globe Award won by an original Apple program. Apple TV + had three other nominations this year but didn’t earn them.
Ted Lasso has been renewed for the second and third seasons, with the second season scheduled to air in the summer of 2021.
