Minecraft It cannot be considered a simple video game. Today, it has become a platform that makes it easy to create all kinds of projects. One that has drawn a lot of attention, especially for Nintendo fans, is the recreation of the first Legend of Zelda within Minecraft. The most interesting thing of all is that they have succeeded without using mods.
Currently, it is difficult to imagine the experience of Minecraft without involving mods. These plugins, mostly developed by the community, have catapulted Mojang’s game into new dimensions. The limit is creativity. Some are so robust that they provide all the tools to create completely new gameplay experiences. In the case of recreation Legend of Zeldasurprisingly, it was not necessary to lean on them.
The person responsible for recreating Legend of Zelda in Minecraft was the youtuber C1OUS3R. If you are a member of the immense community of the Microsoft title, it is very likely that you know it. C1OUS3R recently also managed to recreate Super Mario Bros. and sonic the hedgehogtwo other video game classics.
This time, however, he focused on transferring Link’s first adventure, the one that came to light in 1986. The result, as you yourself can see in the video below, is fantastic.
Although the youtuber he could have used mods to make development of his creation easier, he preferred to do without them. Because? His intention is for the community to have the opportunity to download it, and using mods would have meant that users would install more files. On the other hand, it sometimes happens that plugins do not always work properly on all computers. The goal, then, was to avoid any headache.
In the same video, C1OUS3R explains how he managed to recreate Legend of Zelda in Minecraft. First, there is the issue of textures. Instead of adding additional packages, it simply modified the files of the original ones.
Once the above was resolved, a more difficult challenge arose: recreating the complete map of Legend of Zeldabut in 3D. C1OUS3R wanted a faithful representation, so he had to create three-dimensional models that respect both the design and the proportions. To do this, he used the Blockbench app.
Although the aforementioned tool also allowed him to generate Link’s model, it required animating the textures and altering some settings within Minecraft. Among them, deactivating the running function. Thanks to the above, the character moves in a very similar way to the original game. But there is another secret:
“I superimposed this model [el de Link] on a carved gourd, which is one of the items you can wear on your head in Minecraft. Then I made the player invisible to make it look like you’re controlling Link.”
C1OUS3R.
The next big step was to produce the models of the enemies and, mainly, make them behave like in the Nintendo title. At this point, the creator had to get his hands on the code.
Undoubtedly, this is one of the best projects carried out in Minecraft. If you are curious to try the recreation of Legend of ZeldaBe patient. C1OUS3R intends to release it when his video reaches 5,000 likes. For now, he has more than 4,000, so you can help him meet his goal.
