Many times, more than we believe, things are not what they seem, and it is important to go through life with a critical eye. Even in the supermarket, where they can give with cheese if we let our guard down.
This is what happened in a shop in the Girona town of Platja d’Aro, where the well-known chef of the area Lluís Dagà, from the restaurant L’Atelier Dagà Clos de Llagostera and a regular participant in spaces such as the Gastronomic Forum in Barcelona, has put the scream in the sky upon seeing what, in his opinion, was a “scam.”
The professional has found in a store of the Ametller Origen supermarket chain the sale of Pleurotus Eryngiinails cultivation mushroomsAs if they were boletus or fresh pumpkin mushrooms (in Catalonia they are known as porcini), and at the price of these frescoes.
“This mushroom does not cost more than 15 euros per kilo“, laments the chef on his social networks, and shares a photograph of the product from this supermarket.
In this one you can see that it is advertised as a fresh mushroom and is sold at 49.90 euros per kilo. Additionally, the poster includes the inscription Berguedà extrain relation to the supposed origin of this region known for its mycological excellence.

“Someone he buys them from you? “Isn’t this a scam?” the chef lamented in a post which immediately went viral and accumulated almost 250 comments from Internet users.
Among the comments, some criticize having “bitten” into this offer in other stores where mushrooms were sold “with same instructions“, and others wonder about the debate of indicating wild versus cultivated mushrooms in the sale of this type of products.
Price confusion
The company, for its part, has apologized, and has indicated that they regret the “confusion” with the indicated price. “We appreciate your feedback. We have already contacted the store to correct this error,” he points out.
