Meta’s next virtual reality goggles, the Oculus QuestPro (or also called Meta Quest Pro), have been seen in a leaked video after a user claimed to have found them forgotten in a hotel room. The VR headset, in particular, is listed as an “engineering sample” unit and looks very similar to the goggles dubbed the Project Cambria that the company has subtly shown on occasion and which could be announced next October.
The leaked images reveal a large viewfinder, which includes three cameras in the front area. Also two lenses inside that will allow the user to see what the lenses are reproducing. The Meta Quest Pro also arrive accompanied by two controls with buttons so that it is possible to interact through the virtual environment.
The video, unfortunately, does not show other details that do not go beyond the physical aspect of the VR glasses themselves. Meta, however, has been advancing important information about this product for some time, which will undoubtedly be an important device for the metaverse in which the company is working.
The Meta Quest Pro could compete with Apple’s VR glasses
In fact, Meta has already shown a prototype of these VR glasses during the 2021 Facebook Connect. The lenses, specifically, will have virtual reality features. Also augmented realitybecause the cameras that we see abroad will be able to capture video in high resolution to show it on the interior screen.
Meta’s VR headset is expected to be officially announced this coming October. They could also be the alternative to mixed reality glasses that Apple is working on. These, in fact, could be announced as early as next year. Meta, let’s remember, assured that the Cupertino firm will be one of its main competitors in the metaverse area. They hope, on the other hand, that an open virtual world, where other developers can create platforms and services for their devices, such as Meta Quest Pro, will be a much more attractive option for users.
Zuckerberg also lashed out at Apple for not being part of Metaverse Open Standards Group of Meta. This is the ecosystem in which companies such as Epic Games or Microsoft also collaborate.
