The WWDC of 2023 has been the event chosen by Apple to announce the more than rumored 15-inch MacBook Aira new team that arrives to satisfy the needs of those users who are looking for a light and powerful laptop, but with a larger screen than the 13.6 inches of the current model.
The new 15-inch MacBook Air is just what we’ve been waiting for for years, in fact, it practically inherits the features of the MacBook Air with M2 that the Cupertino company announced just a year ago. The design is pretty much the same., except of course for its dimensions, which are increased due to the new screen size. The 2023 MacBook Air arrives, therefore, with a completely flat design that stands out for its thinness, 11.5 mm thick -the thinnest 15-inch laptop on the market, Apple claims-, as well as for its weight, of only 1.5 kg. Also maintaining the notch on the screen, a butterfly keyboard and connectors such as the two Thunderbolt 4 ports, the 3.5 mm headphone jack or the MagSafe connector.
The screen, in a way, also maintains the same features, only that its size is increased to, specifically, 15.3 inches. It is an IPS Liquid Retina panel with LED backlighting with a resolution equivalent to Full HD + and a brightness of up to 500 nits.
The 15-inch Macbook Air comes with a (not so old) acquaintance
The 15-inch MacBook Air includes the M2 chip that the company announced in 2022 and that offers up to 12 times the performance of the latest Intel-based MacBook Air and up to six times the performance of the MacBook Air with M1. The M2 chip, in particular, has an 8-core CPU; with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores, as well as a GPU with up to 10 cores. It also includes different RAM and storage configurations, starting with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory and expandable up to 24 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD.
All this, with a autonomy of up to 18 hours and the possibility of choosing between two chargers. Or, one with two 35W USB-C ports, or one with a single port and a maximum power of 70W.
The M2 chip also allows the 15-inch MacBook Air to connect an external monitor with 6K resolution.
The 15-inch MacBook Air, on the other hand, integrates a 1080p FaceTime camera and a six speaker system, which are located on the sides of the butterfly keyboard. Keyboard that, of course, has Touch ID for unlocking and payments with Apple Pay.
The MacBook Air we’ve been waiting for
This is the first time that Apple has announced a 15-inch model of its lightweight notebook. Until now, in fact, only the Pro range had adopted that size – which the company itself killed with the arrival of the 16-inch MacBook Pro. And this MacBook Air is actually something we’ve been waiting for a long time for a number of reasons.
First of all, there had never been a lightweight MacBook with a large screen size at Apple, so those looking for a great panel to work with and portability, had to choose an option with Windows or, instead, sacrifice the size and bet on a 16-inch MacBook Pro. But there’s always been another problem: the larger-screen MacBook Pro is expensive. Powerful, yes, but expensive. Many users do not need a computer with such good performance to work; they simply look for a computer with a larger screen so that they can do it comfortably.
The new 15-inch MacBook Air, therefore, is the ideal solution for those users who need a laptop with a large screen and a lot of power, without reaching the level of specifications that the Pro models have and, of course, not at its price. . In fact, the 15-inch MacBook Air comes at a very attractive cost for many.
15-inch MacBook Air price and availability

The MacBook Air in its largest configuration, with up to 24 GB of unified memory or 2 TB of internal storage, is priced at 2,979 euros.
