Google-owned YouTube has named Web 3.0 executive Neal Mohan its new CEO following the departure of Susan Wojcicki this week.
Wojcicki left YouTube on February 16, after nine years at the helm of the company, and announced his intention to start a “new stage” focused on family, health and personal projects. During his tenure he oversaw, among other things, the introduction of the profit-sharing model.
Going forward, she will remain an advisor to Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc.

Before becoming the new CEO, Mohan served as YouTube’s head of product and oversaw the controversial removal of the “Dislike” button from videos, the introduction of YouTube Shorts to compete with Tik Tok and YouTube Music.
As for Web 3.0, Mohan outlined tentative plans in February 2022 to integrate a number of new features, such as metaverse-based content experiences and content tokenization using non-fungible tokens (NFTs), to a large extent. consternation from the community that then hated NFTs.
