This video shows a scene that fans would have loved to see: a magical match between the Scarlet Witch and the Sorcerer Supreme.
After the premiere of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the opinions of fans – and critics, of course – for the characters were divided. In the first place because there was a possibility that Strange would always take care of America for his own interests after what happened with the illuminati (an original lineup composed of Black Panther, Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, Black Bolt, Namor, Professor X); and, on the other hand, because the plot of the film was oriented towards Wanda Maximoff’s desire to recover her children in another reality of the multiverse through the powers of América Chávez.
Of course, the events were taking place in all possible realities, while the Scarlet Witch used the Darkhold to pursue the target of her plans: America, in an epic chase. However, the protection of Doctor Strange was essential so that the young woman could keep her powers to teleport in the multiverse at will. And, although Wanda Maximoff was really close to getting her interests, her fate did not play in her favor.
Doctor Strange raised many possibilities for the MCU
Marvel Studios’ first proposal for the big screen in 2022, whose argument you just read, was directed by Sam Raimi. it works though as the sequel to Scott Derrickson’s original 2016 Doctor Strange film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness became a mainstay for the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. This is because -although the plot is sustained by the interests of the Scarlet Witch, the Sorcerer Supreme and the appearance of the new heroine América Chávez- it not only raises the realities that exist simultaneously, but also leaves the doors open to that other important events happen between the heroes or villains of these realities.
And, as we saw in the film, Doctor Strange’s last adventure on this surreal journey was to confront Wanda, who fully embraced her villainous identity after the events of WandaVision. In fact, ever since Elizabeth Olsen was confirmed for Doctor Strange 2, the expectation that there would be two such important magical characters sharing the screen has been greatly increased. Although both Stephen Strange and Wanda joined the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, they never actually had any direct interaction with each other until the Raimi-directed film. Sadly, the Doctor Strange sequel wasn’t quite up to the task in terms of skills for what could have become the most epic fight in the feature film.
All of these considerations regarding matchups prompted a fan of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to reimagine what this fight between the Scarlet Witch and the Sorcerer Supreme would have been like.
This would have been the fight between the Scarlet Witch and the Sorcerer Supreme
As we mentioned, the speculations about this combat were many, thanks to the powers that both have. However, it seems that Raimi had other plans for the characters and put an unexpected twist on what seemed inevitable. But this did not prevent inspiration from leading the TikTok user, named carlitoona recreate a battle between Wanda and Stephen in Doctor Strange 2.
In the short video, the two characters use a mix of their signature magic moves and even new ones to add an exciting twist to the fight. You can see it right away:

This clip you just saw stirred up a lot of emotions regarding Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch fans. Some feel that she should have appeared as the title character in the film, instead of focusing on Strange’s “heroicity,” and that there should even have been some kind of magical battle between the two given the conditions. Something that did not happen. For example, in previous projects like Doctor Strange and Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios found a way to showcase the Sorcerer Supreme’s abilities to stage complex and exciting battles. But now they just decided not to confront Wanda. Y the video makes a clear reference to the fact that they should have shown that battle.
Finally, Marvel had booked the Scarlet Witch to be the villain of Avengers 5, however, things changed after screenwriter Michael Waldron suggested they bring up her evil twist for Doctor Strange 2. And it’s not really a bad idea by itself, but maybe it would have been better if the MCU followed the plans for Wanda Maximoff. Be that as it may, Marvel still has a chance to face them in the next Avengers movie.
