Xiaomi it became the firm that sold the most phones in all of Europe during the second quarter of the year. This was announced by Strategy Analytics just a few days after Counterpoint Research also confirmed that during the second quarter of 2021 Xiaomi consolidated itself as the second largest manufacturer in the world in the global sale of smartphones.
According to Strategy Analytics data, Xiaomi surpassed Samsung in shipping phones with a total of 12.7 million units, 700,000 thousand more than Samsung distributed in the continent between April and June.
As other analyzes by Canalys and Counterpoint Research have shown, Strategy Analytics revealed that Xiaomi is one of the companies that grew the most on the continent in just one year, reporting an increase in its shipments of 67.1%.
On the other hand, Samsung was the only firm in the top 4 that registered a decrease in units distributed between the second quarter of 2020 and the same period of 2021.
Boris Metodiev, Associate Director of Strategy Analytics, mentioned: “Xiaomi has seen great success in Russia, Ukraine, Spain and Italy, among others, and found customers eager for its Mi and Redmi series, phones that stand out for their features and value” .
Likewise, the analysis firm also stressed that Xiaomi’s success has gone hand in hand with Huawei’s decline, which continues to lose market share in the West after it was banned from continuing to access Google services in 2019.
Chinese manufacturers do not stop growing
The third most important manufacturer in Europe during the second quarter of the year was Apple, which registered a year-on-year growth of 15.7%, which means that it distributed 9.6 million units and monopolized 12.9% of the market.
But what is striking is that OPPO and its sub-brand, realme, grew to 3 and 4 digits in just one year, reporting an increase in 180% and 1800% sales respectively.
Only Xiaomi, OPPO and realme control 34.7% of the market in Europe, more than what manufacturers such as Nokia, TCL, vivo, Google, OnePlus, and more add together.
