Are you still stuck in versions like MIUI 12.0.4? Updating is much more than an appetite for wanting to be up to date. It is also a tool to access the latest security patches and major enhancements in terms of performance and battery usage.
And it can be frustrating to see how, month after month, you wait to update your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO and you begin to sense that, rather the opposite, those updates will never arrive. Nevertheless, as users we still have the possibility to update our devices. At our expense and risk, yes. We discover two tools that will help you keep your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO in the latest version.
Update with MIUI Downloader
The first tool is called MIUI Downloader, an application developed by the XiaoMIUI team, responsible for some of the most important leaks and updates in recent months. It is available on Google Play, so you just have to download and install.
The second application is called Device App Updater, currently in closed beta phase, and it is the equivalent of the MIUI updater but aimed at keeping all the applications of your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO up to date, based on the latest apk from other countries.
Both are completely free, have pop-up advertising and both start from the same premise: that your Xiaomi does not remain abandoned and can continue to receive improvements from the latest updates.
Let’s focus on the first one. Navigation through this app is very simple. As we can see, we can edit the colors, language and choose between light or dark mode.
Within the menu you will only have to look for the device that exactly fits the model you have. If you do not know what it is, you will only have to go to ‘Settings’ and go down to the option’All specs‘. There you will see the type of model you have, amount of RAM or serial number of the terminal.
When you have chosen the device in question you will have to choose between three options according to the periodicity of these ROMs:
- MIUI’s most stable global ROM to date, tested and safe.
- A modified version based on the latest Chinese ROMs —With some additional tools and no ads between apps.
- A beta testing that is constantly updated only recommended for testing and performance testing.
In addition, within this section you will also find news with information on the latest updates and recommendations depending on the terminal you use.
Choose the ROM that best suits you
Before continuing, the following point should be clear: in order to install these ROMs you must have the Bootloader enabled. In this article we already explain how to unlock it. Most of these ROMs are in Recovery mode.
One of the virtues of the application MIUI Downloader resides in its simplicity: every time we access a ROM, the application links the Recovery and the Fasboot corresponding to our model. It is, in short, a search engine that avoids us having to go around accessing forums or pages in other languages.
We recommend creating a backup copy and keeping it on a computer or alternative media. Thus, in the event of an accident, you can reverse the entire process and restore your mobile to its previous state.
All ROMs are downloaded from the web SourgeForge, a gigantic repository where files are verified and virus free. Once you have chosen the ROM that suits your needs, you will only have to update by following the same steps that you would follow if you updated your mobile and voila, updated.
