After closing the last edition of the San Sebastian Festival, this weekend ‘Las laws de la frontera’, the long-awaited new work by Daniel Monzon. The filmmaker has been giving interviews in recent weeks (we will soon publish our talk with him) and leaving anecdotes as funny as the one he has told in ElTolChoufrom the Twitch channel ElStream.
The heart of the warrior filmmaker
Monzón went to the set of the program to talk about ‘The Laws of the Border’ with Alesya Makarov and Alejandro G. Calvo, and during the conversation he recalled the beginnings of his career. The director encouraged aspiring filmmakers to stubbornly strive to achieve their goal, and really jump into shooting, and then revealed his advice. Alex de la Iglesia.
When Monzón was preparing what would be his debut feature, ‘El corazón del guerrero’, he asked De la Iglesia to read his script. The director, who had already released ‘Mutant Action’ and ‘The Day of the Beast’, told him the following about the script: “Daniel, it’s great. What’s more, If you have to give yourself a host, you give it to yourself in a big way“.
Fernando Ramallo, Neus Asensi, Joel Joan and Santiago Segura led the cast of ‘El corazón del guerrero’, which, as the director himself recalls, won several awards at fantastic film festivals (Amsterdam, Montreal, Fantasporto), in addition to achieving two nominations to the Goya Awards, including best new direction. Below you can see the complete the funny program of Daniel Monzón in ElTolchou:
