Witchfire, what’s new from the creators of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, was presented during The Game Awards 2017 gala as the spiritual heir of Painkiller, a first-person shooter inspired by classics like DOOM and Quake, and with a setting of the darkest. Since then, its creators have remained fairly absent, with some clips and development diaries from time to time, but they have recently confirmed that they will be announcing the release date of the game, as well as new material from the game, soon.
Through a new post on their official Twitter account, The Astronauts shared a new clip of a few seconds of Witchfire gameplay and quoted the fans for next week, when they will talk about «release date, features, and other exciting stuff.”Without a doubt, there is a desire to know more details about this game after so long in silence.

The Astronauts is an independent studio founded in Warsaw, Poland, by one of the founders of People Can Fly, creators of the award winning Painkiller and other games like Gears of War: Jdgment, Bulletsorm or the most recent Outriders. There are those who see in this Witchfire a spiritual successor to Painkiller thanks to that frenetic action, supernatural enemies and the baroque and gloomy aspect that permeates each stage.
An incredible mod transforms Minecraft into DOOM
Back in 2017, Witchfire was confirmed only for PC, but it is to be hoped that it will also come to consoles after such a long time. At least to Xbox Series X | S, it is possible that being an independent study they cannot also cover the previous generation. More knowing that the production of Xbox One ceased more than a year ago.
