The first big Windows 11 update it’s here. Microsoft promised that it would arrive in February and it has finally been right in the middle of the month. Support for Android apps (currently only in the US), improvements to the taskbar, and the new Media Player and Notepad apps are the highlights of this update numbered KB5010414.
Android apps come to Windows 11 from Amazon
The new Microsoft Store is here to stay. It is not only much prettier and faster than its predecessor, but also (and above all) more useful. More and more developers are publishing their applications in the Microsoft store and now, thanks to the Amazon Appstore, 1000+ android apps and games land on Windows 11.

1,000 apps is nothing compared to the entire catalog available in the Google Play Store, but it’s a great start. This experience is currently only available to users in the United States but soon it will expand to the rest of the world. To enjoy it, all you have to do is update the Microsoft Store from the application itself and start looking for the apps and games that you want, which will be downloaded from the Amazon Appstore (a store within another store!).
Taskbar improvements
Microsoft is aware that the new Windows 11 taskbar, although more aesthetic than its predecessor, has lost certain features that users miss a lot. Now, finally, he begins to recover them and, along the way, adds new ones.
Mute / unmute
While you’re on a video call teamsa microphone icon will appear on the taskbar to allow you to mute yourself or unmute yourself with a single click.

Very easy: Hover over an open app icon on your taskbar and a preview window will open, allowing you to easily share that content.
weather on the taskbar
The Windows 11 widget button has been moved to the left (if we have the taskbar centered) and now shows live weather information after this update KB5010414.
To activate this function, in addition to updating Windows 11, we need to go to the Microsoft Store and look for updates to download the latest version of the Windows Web Experience Pack.
Clock on second monitor
The use of Windows with multiple monitors is becoming more and more common due to the high productivity that it allows us to achieve. Many users asked for it and Microsoft has granted it: The clock with the time and date is already displayed on our second monitors and not only in the main.
Two redesigned apps: Media Player and Notepad
Windows 11 was released in October 2021, too soon to have been able to redesign all the applications of the operating system. Now, with this February 2022 update, we gain two new redesigns.
Media player
The Media Player app replaces Groove Music to offer better performance, new features, and a design aligned with modern Windows 11 guides.
The application aims to be a single place from where we can play our music and video, taking over from the old Windows Media Player. Quite a success by the people of Microsoft.
Memo pad
Windows Notepad has been with us forever. He is one of the family but… he was getting “old-fashioned”. Thanks to this update, Notepad in Windows 11 acquires dark theme supportadapts to the design style of the operating system and adds features such as support for emoji, multilevel undo options and a modern and efficient “search and replace” experience.
To obtain these new applications you will have to go to the Microsoft Store and, within the “Library” section, click on “Get updates”.
bug fixes
This KB5010414 update includes all the bug fixes present in Build 22000.526 which was released last week to the Windows Insider Release Preview and Beta channels.
