A laptop that is not technically a console, but a PC in the shape of a Nintendo Switch. It is not the first time that we see a product with these characteristics, but Steam Deck has been the first that has managed to capture everyone’s attention since its formal announcement. Aware of this, in Valve they are already thinking about the technologies with which they will be able to to experience in the future.
One of them is evident: 4K resolution on laptops. In theory, it was going to be the highlight for the still-unannounced Switch Pro, but at this point it’s like chasing unicorns. “How would that device look [revisión de Steam Deck]? How hot would it get? “Asks Valve’s Lawrence Yang, in an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun.
“It implies much balance and actually, we’re happy with how he is right now. Well, you know, technology advances. Maybe in a year or two let’s have something that is more feasible “he concludes. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that we are going to have Deck review, but at least it is a declaration of intent: the parents of Half-Life will continue to explore other possibilities.
The launching Steam Deck was scheduled for the end of the year, but with the success of its pre-order campaign, some new buyers are seeing their units have to wait until early 2022. Or even later. And looking ahead, there will be more models of the machine, whether with a 4K screen or not.
