With less than a week to go until the start of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, one of the unknowns is who will be the artists who will star in the opening ceremony.
There are some names, but none confirmed, and speculations sprout from all corners.
The opening ceremony is one of the most anticipated events, especially for those who are not football fans, but enjoy this kind of spectacle.
The quote is the Sunday, November 20, from 9 AM, Mexico time (12 from Argentina), in the impressive Al-Bayt stadium.
According to what has been published by different international media, everything indicates that one or more of the stars that will be part of the opening ceremony of Qatar 2022 will appear among these five names: ShakiraBTS, Black Eyed Peas, Dua Lipa and J Balvin.
The Al-Bayt is the most impressive stadium in the World Cup and the most luxurious. It is located 35 kilometers north of Doha, in the city of Al Khor.
It can accommodate 60 thousand spectators.
After the opening ceremony, the first game of the World Cup will begin: the local team versus Ecuador.
If Shakira is part of the event, she would become the first artist to be present four times at any of the FIFA Cup ceremonies. The Colombian was in Germany (2006), in South Africa (2010) and in Brazil (2014).
Less than a month ago, Shakira premiered the video for “Monotonia”, a song about heartbreak with many hints at the former Barcelona FC player and ex-husband of the singer, Gerard Piqué.
The 2022 World Cup in Qatar begins
Qatar will be a world cup out of the ordinary in many aspects. One is the issue of alcoholic beverages.
In Qatar there is no “dry law”, but it restricts who and where can buy alcoholic beverages.
But to drink alcohol in Qatar as a foreign resident, you have to get a written permit and only those who earn more than 3,000 Qatari riyals (about $815) per month are allowed.
That permit gives them access to a license to buy alcohol from the company that has the monopoly, Qatar Distribution Companya subsidiary of Qatar Airways.
Drunkenness on public roads is illegal and is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of three thousand Qatari riyals. However, FIFA will organize special “fanzones” so that tourists traveling for the World Cup can drink beer.
AB InBev, which sponsors the World Cup with its Budweiser brand, expects more beer to be consumed in Qatar in the month of the World Cup than would normally be consumed throughout for a whole year in that country.
