Shazam 2: The Fury of the Gods hit theaters last week without pulling in favorable numbers for Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios. This sequel to the hit Shazam (2019), also starring Zachary Levi, falls far short of matching the box office prowess of its predecessor, having grossed a meager $65.5 million in its opening weekend globally; that is, a little more than half the money it cost to produce and advertise it.
By virtue of these catastrophic monetary news, Levi stated through Twitter that the great drawback for the performance of his film was not having sold it to the public in the correct way. This is how he exposed it when responding to a certain follower’s tweet where it was stated that many fans of the Snyderverse —dissatisfied with the fact that Zack Snyder does not take the reins of the DC Universe— are happy about the failure of Shazam 2 and they expect the same thing to happen with the brand’s upcoming films.
“This is also true. Sad, but true, “acknowledged the leading actor. “No one knows to what extent that affects the box office. But I think that The biggest problem we have is marketing. This is a perfect family movie, and yet many families are unaware of it.. Which is a shame”.
Do you really think Shazam 2 hasn’t aroused the interest of parents and children and that’s why it failed at the box office, according to Zachary Levi’s theory? Regardless of any explanation, the sad reality for this sequel is that it is the worst debut ever for a DC Universe film that hits exclusively in theaters. In the US, its first weekend on the billboards brought in just $30.5 million.

And regarding the people who have expressed hate towards the film, he added:
