In Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Eddie Brock will finally face one of his great nemesis in the comics: Carnage.
Without a doubt, one of the great attractions of the long-awaited sequel to Venom is finally seeing Carnage on the big screen, perhaps Eddie Brock’s most dangerous rival in the comics. But who is this crimson symbiote? And where does this villain come from in the plot of Venom: Let There Be Carnage?
Who is Carnage in Venom: Let There Be Carnage?
From its genesis in the pages of comics created by David Michelinie and Mark Bagley, Carnage is a parasite descendant of the extraterrestrial symbiote that inhabits the body of Eddie Brock. This variation becomes more powerful and aggressive as it enters the bloodstream of the dangerous serial killer Cletus Kasady.
Unlike the comics, in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Kasady (played by Woody Harrelson) does not host the aggressive Klyntar after coming into contact with him during a Venom-orchestrated prison break, but thanks to a meticulous plan. that was anticipated from the post-credits scene of the first installment of the saga.

Recall that in the final sequence of the 2018 film, Brock (Tom Hardy) goes to the San Quentin State Prison to meet the criminal, who decided to speak for the first time about the horrible massacres that took him behind bars.
In the new installment, Brock continues his encounters with Kasady to post a glimpse into the mind of the serial killer in the Californian version of The Daily Bugle and reclaim his career as a journalist. However, during one of his visits, Cletus bites the reporter, causing the symbiote to enter him. “I’ve tasted blood before, and that’s not,” the character can be heard saying in the film’s final trailer.

As a nod to the comics, Carnage’s “liberation” on the big screen also occurs within the walls of a prison, only this time it happens after the failure in the death of Cletus Kasady, sentenced to the maximum penalty through of lethal injection. Upon receiving the poison, the symbiote reacts and takes the body of the murderer. While one would expect a descendant of Venom to present an appearance in dark colors, this new villain appears in shades of crimson given his contact with the blood of his host.
How dangerous is Venom’s new villain?
The appearance of Kasady and his powerful alter ego represent a real challenge for Eddie Brock because, although he is not the first villain he faces with Venom, Carnage is one of the most dangerous figures he has come across. This is because the symbiote’s psychotic nature was amplified upon coming into contact with Cletus’s mental instability, taking most of his actions to an extreme.
Another factor that makes it a risk for Brock is that the symbiote has stopped responding to the orders and rules that it managed to impose on the extraterrestrial parasite after both began to inhabit the same body. In fact, as defined by Marvel in the character’s biography, Carnage is a singular entity who refers to himself as “I,” rather than “We.”
