The new Prius design
The new generation has a noticeable change in design from the iconic wedge shape that has distinguished the Prius since the second generation. Now, the model adopts a coupe-like silhouette thanks to the fact that the overall height has been lowered by 50 millimeters and the upper part of the roof has been moved back.
The Prius body was revised to make it more aerodynamic to optimize airflow and achieve excellent fuel efficiency, handling and stability. The fifth generation incorporates a higher capacity battery and a more powerful engine generator.
Prius will be one of the hybrid models that Toyota will launch in Mexico in 2023 in an attempt by the brand to maintain the positive inertia of 2022.
The Japanese brand sells seven hybrid models –Prius, Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Tundra, Sequoia and Sienna– and with the arrival of the new generation of Prius, and other hybrid models, the Japanese company expects that this type of model will represent 20% of total sales in 2023.
