The National Government of Colombiain collaboration with the Congress of the Republic, has launched the Citizen Income as an integral part of the National Development Plan “Colombia, World Power of Life”. The distribution of the benefits of this program is in charge of social prosperity, the entity in charge of ensuring coverage of basic needs such as food, promoting economic independence and guaranteeing access to fundamental rights such as education and health. The main objective of this initiative is to provide adequate income to households in situations of extreme and moderate poverty and vulnerability.
The bonus has been implemented in the 466 municipalities considered a priority in terms of extreme poverty, and additional resources will be allocated to households with children under the age of six residing in high-priority areas. To date, families from various regions such as Antioquia, Bolívar, Córdoba, Valle del Cauca, Atlántico, Santander and Nariño have benefited from this initiative.
When do they pay the Citizen Income in 2023?
Social Prosperity began on Saturday, April 29, the distribution of the payments corresponding to the Transition to Citizen Income program, and the first cycle concluded on May 30. Payments will be made every two months, following the same pattern used in the Solidarity Income program. Therefore, the next payment is planned for June, followed by August, October and so on.

How much is the Citizen Income payment?
Under the administration of President Gustavo Petro, the Citizen Income program has been established, whose purpose is to ensure an income of up to 500,000 pesos to households that are in conditions of extreme poverty. This initiative’s main objective is to fight hunger, gradually promote economic independence and guarantee access to fundamental rights.
