WhatsApp It remains the most popular instant messaging application on the planet, but it still has ample room for improvement in some aspects of its functionality.
The best and clearest example of this dynamic is experienced and measured by testing some other competing platforms, such as Signal or Telegram, where the range of functions, security measures, and other options are much more elaborate.
In this sense, for years WhatsApp has been questioned on more than one occasion for the security of its system, where for a long time it did not even have encrypted messages, which made it possible for almost anyone to read them.
To this we must add that scenario that is as uncomfortable as it is recurring, where sometimes someone unwanted has physical access to our smartphone and enters the messaging app to read our conversations, where we can address and expose all kinds of information.
That an unintentional person suddenly has access to all the private chats, with their messages, photographs, videos and audios, can be a risk that is as disturbing as it is compromising for many.
Fortunately that is about to change with a new security feature that was already urgent for many.
WhatsApp will block access to chats by fingerprint
It turns out that, according to a report from WABetaInfothe 2.23.8.2 beta version of WhatsApp for Android has now integrated a new privacy feature that allows users to lock individual and group chats with a pin code or their own fingerprint.
So to block a chat, the user should simply tap on the contact information or group name to select the corresponding protection and block option:
By activating this entry filter, chats blocked by PIN or fingerprint will be moved to a separate tab to keep conversations better organized.
As seen in the interface screenshots, if someone tries to open the locked chats but does not comply with the configured validation process, WhatsApp will request the deletion of the entire conversation before being able to enter the chat window, which would appear clean.
This new privacy feature is much more practical and functional than the option to restrict access to all of WhatsApp using a PIN or your own fingerprint.
Unfortunately, this function forces you to validate your identity every time the application is opened, while this new function would make everything more agile by restricting access to only a few conversations selected by the user.
It will be necessary to wait for the beta to be released for all Android users.
