Facebook continues to work to keep its messaging application for smartphones up to date. The company now seeks to improve the experience of whatsapp voice notes with a function almost identical to that of its main rival, Telegram.
As explained by the trustworthy page WABetaInfo, it is a global voice memo player. Basically, like Telegram, this will be visible at all times and it will be pinned at the top of the application.
Currently, if you are listening to an audio from WhatsApp and you exit the chat in question, the playback stops. This can be a bit annoying at times when you need to watch another conversation while you have audio playing.
However, with the global player you can navigate anywhere in the app with a voice memo playing. But it’s not just about that, the new interface will also allow you to pause or resume playback.
Of course, unlike Telegram, the global WhatsApp player will not allow you to adjust the playback speed of messages. Something that will clearly still be available in the chat window, but not everywhere.
The new voice memo player, on the way to WhatsApp
If you are eager to try this new WhatsApp function we must tell you that is still under development. WABetaInfo indicates that it will arrive first through a future beta update for iOS and Android and, later, to the final version of the application.
Of course, at this time it is not possible to predict the deadlines, both for the arrival of the beta and the final version. The good news is that we will be attentive to inform you when that happens.
For now, one of the functions that did reach the beta, and that will soon arrive to all users, is an improved system of temporary messages. Now, instead of counting a single option when activating the function, users will be able to choose different durations.
That is, the temporary messages within a given chat may be 24 hours, 90 days or 7 days. You can also configure that predetermined duration from the section Privacy for all new messages.
