Very soon you will have the possibility of using messages that self-destruct on WhatsApp by default. You can do it through the new “disappearance mode”, which is already on the way and works as we explain below.
Users are increasingly aware of how important it is to protect our privacy. For this reason, today we demand functions that allow us to keep our personal information safe, and the platforms strive to provide them to us.
Privacy in WhatsApp has been gaining new functions in recent months, and among the features that have been arriving are messages that self-destruct. These are ephemeral messages to which the sender can assign an expiration date and, once expired, the text will disappear forever.
The temporary messages of WhatsApp were released at the end of last year and, although initially they had an expiration of 7 days, later the platform began to work on the messages that are destroyed after 24 hours and then on another option to delete the messages at 90 days.
Last May we suddenly found out the new Disappearance Mode will come to WhatsApp. This is a new option in the application’s privacy settings that will allow users to use temporary messages by default in new chats.
Now, the WABetaInfo portal points out that the new feature is one step closer and offers us all the details that are known so far.
As the specialized portal describes, WhatsApp Disappearance Mode can be activated through the application’s privacy settings section. In the following screenshot you can see where exactly this function will be located.
If you activate the Disappearing Mode, the new chat threads will become ephemeral messages and They will be automatically destroyed once 7 days have passed since they were shipped.
In this way, if you are not interested in saving your conversations and you prefer them to be deleted over time, you have the possibility of having your chats deleted automatically without having to select temporary messages manually.
From WABetaInfo they explain that, If you have Disappearing Mode activated, at the top of the window you will see a notification which reminds you that you are using this feature for all new chats, so the messages will be deleted. This way you will not be able to get lost and you will have the possibility to change the configuration if you wish.
For the moment this feature is available only to beta testers and at the moment it is unknown when it will reach the stable version. If you are curious to know more, here we tell you how to test the latest WhatsApp features before anyone else.
