“Batman” is back yes, it seems a bit like a joke, a bit irony and a bit like a promise kept (or, at least, that’s expected).
“Batman” is the character that has had the most incarnations on the big screen; with Robert Pattison, there are now seven actors who have been the “Dark Knight”, his predecessors being Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck.
The time between one and the other has been reducing more and more. We saw Ben Affleck last year in Zack Snyder’s Justice League and there are even rumors that, given the existence of the DC extended universe, it could return. If Spider-Man is the most beloved super hero as discussed here at “3 reasons why Spider-Man is the most popular superhero”, it is time to discuss why Batman returns and returns (although it sounds like the title of the 1992 film); why do we identify with him?
batman It is the first of the films or, rather, of the reboot of the character that will not count the start of the hero. Instead, he begins when he has been fighting crime for a year now and follows the “Riddler”, who has been making the elite citizens of Gotham City his victims; To stop him, he must make new allies while uncovering secrets that link his family to corrupt deeds. It is based on “Year One”, “Batman: The Long Halloween” and “Dark Victory”.
The decision to change omits one of the easily identifiable aspects (the loss of his parents), but he will confirm that the affection and acceptance of the character is not only in it.
Unlike the vast majority of super heroes, “Batman” does not have super powers. That is to say, as he shows himself from his childhood and it is verified later on, in reality he is not “so special”. Wow, it could be said that he was just another rich kid and the death of his parents (already so well known) changes that. So, his desire for justice is in a certain way motivated by revenge, but much further by the sense of justice and this raises just another of the central aspects of him: he is a hero on the verge of becoming a villain for the sake of to carry out its mission. “The Dark Knight” sums it up nicely in a line from Harvey Dent / “Two-Face”: “Either you die a hero, or you live long enough to become the villain.”
That fight to stay on the side of good is a constant in the hero who has a strong but vulnerable ethic and that makes him deeply human, because he is fallible. Now, that’s not the only thing. Even when Batman he is rich and that undoubtedly facilitates his work, his merit also lies in another aspect: he is the product of discipline.
In order to face the villains, Bruce Wayne / “Batman” has trained in different disciplines and even over the years he does not let it lessen, despite the pain, his physical condition. The physical is not the only aspect, Bruce Wayne has also been busy keeping up intellectually which is reflected in both the gadgets as in the strategies to end criminals.
All things considered, “Batman” is an ideal of human ability. Beyond the fact that in some iterations he has help or not, he is a hero who relies on himself, on his human strength, on his own intelligence; on his resources. He is a giant of human ability determined to “unmask the truth”, as the catchphrase of batmanand do justice.
