What is Arpanet?
Arpanet is the acronym for Advanced Research Projects Agency. This project was founded by the United States Department of Defense in 1958. In 1962, the project took a clearer course when John Licklider proposed the idea of creating a network to communicate users through their computers.
Subsequently, the University of California developed the first node and, on November 21, 1969, they successfully sent the first message to an SDS 940 computer at Stanford University.
What is Arpanet for?
Arpanet is used to create secure communication between the different research bases of the state through a computer network. Therefore, the purpose of this project is directed towards the administrative and security area.
How does Arpanet work?
Arpanet works through the connection of a network of nodes located in different locations. Initially, the connection was made through the NLS system which presented a primary version of the hypertext. A few years later, in 1981, the TCP/IP protocol was born and in this way Arpanet marked its evolution.

Internet history
The Internet originated in the military field through the evolution of the Arpanet project. In 1958, the United States Department of Defense aimed to achieve direct and secure communication between state agencies. Then, the Arpa project was born.
Arpa was the first technological step for the creation of the network of networks. This project had a high budget and two hundred specialists who dedicated themselves for more than a decade to achieve its goal: to communicate users through a computer network.
Thanks to the work and constant research of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Rand Corporation and the National Physics Laboratory, a plan was published to create a computer network called Arpanet, which had a network of twenty-three points connected for the year 1971.
Arpanet in Education
Arpanet also established itself at the university level by creating a network between the Universities of California and Stanford. Since then, the technological link between education and the state has remained over the years.
In 1972, Arpanet proved to be effective by creating a network of forty points connected and located in different locations. Indeed, more research was developed and new networks emerged.
