This has not been a good week for fans of DC movies, because Warner Bros Discovery canceled the Batgirl movie along with other HBO Max projects. Although no official reasons have been given for its cancellation, everything seems to indicate that the directors of Warner Bros. did not have confidence in the quality of batgirlbecause they believe that it could damage the DC brand.
A couple of days ago the directors of Warner Bros. Discovery held a general meeting with their employees to discuss the rumors that have been circulating, as it was said that we would see cuts to the HBO Max creative team and it was expected that more projects would be canceled.

The first half of the meeting consisted of an apology for Batgirl’s cancellation and some of the plans for the HBO Max and Discovery+ apps were revealed. However, in the second half, a question and answer session was held, where the employees took the opportunity to complain about the cancellation of Batgirl.
When employees questioned the decision to cancel the Batgirl movie in post-production, Warner Bros. Discovery officials said it was a one-time event, and it happened because of the unjustifiable decisions by former Warner Bros. executives. Employees also hinted that the movie wasn’t very good, saying it had the potential to damage DC’s brand.
The cancellation of Batgirl has not been well received and not only by DC fans, but also by the president of DC Films, Walter Hamada, who is said to have almost resigned his position upon hearing the news. It seems that Walter Hamada decided to stay in his position, but only until the premiere of Black Adam in October.
When Batgirl was cancelled, DC fans raised concerns about the other DC projects on HBO MAX, but director James Gunn has already said that Peacemaker season 2 is safe.
