As doctors and health personnel, but above all as individuals, it is imperative that we take care of our own mental health in these turbulent times. Even more so, when the third wave in Mexico threatens more strongly every day.
How can you ensure the proper mental balance to fight Covid-19?
Here are some things to keep in mind to ensure good mental balance:
Check all the information you get
In cases where information is found occupying the mental space, before panic and stress, check the source and relevance of the information. A lot of fake news is floating around on social media and you have to be careful not to cause stress, fear and anxiety.
Take the time to relax
Include an activity of your choice in your daily routine that you enjoy and can help you relax. It is imperative to take time to relax after recovering from the pressure and stress of Covid-19. Meditation is an activity that can help you stay calm and positive always.
Connect with friends, family
A very important aspect of human survival is being social. While social distancing measures should be followed, be sure to make the best use of technology to connect with your loved ones and spread some positivity and love.
Talk about your fears, anxieties, happiness, and feelings. It is always good to seek the help of your loved ones. Office support groups are another effective intervention that employers can undertake and encourage.
Look for professionally trained counselors
We all have our blind spots and intelligence has nothing to do with it. So while support from friends and family is important, therapy provides an experienced outside perspective. In addition, it helps you gain awareness / knowledge of yourself, so that you can have more confidence and make better decisions.
Stay active
Exercise regularly
Physical health and fitness have a direct impact on mental health. Eating healthy, having balanced and nutritious meals, getting enough sleep and getting enough sleep (minimum 8 hours) are some of the ways to keep your mind and body active.
From exercise to reading, from meaningful home entertainment to partners, from medicine to spirituality, from empathetic employers to family support, from managing lonely days and work to pressures from home, we need support in various ways.
All of this and more is needed by all those struggling to help regain better mental health.
