On Warner they have little reason to be happy with the box office performance of their latest releases. ‘Reminiscence’ sank with the worst release of all time in the United States for a movie released in more than 3000 cinemas, ‘Maligno’ was not good either and now it has been ‘Cry Macho’, the new work of Clint eastwood, which has had a debut for oblivion.
‘Cry Macho’ accumulated 4.515 million dollars in 3967 cinemas, which is equivalent to the eighth worst premiere in absolute numbers for a movie released in over 3,000 theaters. The data is even worse if we look at the percentage per room, since there it is in place with 1138 dollars.
Another Warner Failure
It is clear that the lukewarm reviews must not have helped too much, but I suspect the key factor has been their Simultaneous premiere on HBO Max. And is that ‘Mula’, the previous feature film directed and starring Eastwood, raised $ 17.5 million in its first weekend …
In this way, Warner accumulates in 2021 four of the fifteen worst releases in more than 3000 theaters of all time. The one that is missing is ‘Those who wish my death’, which debuted with some Pyrrhic 2.8 million dollars.
Of course, ‘Cry Macho’ has something to console itself with, since that same week ‘Copshop’, a new feature film by Joe carnahan which sank even more at the box office than the film by the author of ‘No Forgiveness’. In fact, its 2.3 million dollars in 3,005 theaters make it the second worst premiere of all time, only behind ‘Reminiscence’.
