About the incidents of pillage that occurred in the days following the arrival of the hurricane, Treviño highlighted that they are working in “close collaboration” with the National Guard and Guerrero authorities to guarantee security and prevent future looting.
Support and donations
Treviño explained that collection centers have been set up in several locations, including Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nuevo León, Puebla and Querétaro, where donations of basic food supplies, canned foods, cleanliness and personal hygiene. These centers will be open until November 5.
The company has also donated 100 million pesos, destined to organizations such as the Mexican Red Cross, United by Them, the National Contingency Support Center and World Central Kitchen. In addition, its Walmart Salud division has established a community module to provide primary medical care and medications to the affected population.
Additionally, Walmart has provided support to affected customers in Guerrero by offering a free phone and internet package for seven days, through its virtual mobile operator Bait, which includes minutes for calls and text messages.
