“Wallace and Gromit,” the cult British stop-motion comedy franchise returns to the forefront with a virtual reality-focused makeover.
The series created by Nick Park, from Aardman Animationsreturns associated with Meta Quest and Atlas Va company based in France, with the idea of create a virtual reality experience.
The new Wallace and Gromit will be interactive and focused on the most modern and revolutionary narratives that come from the hand of new technologies.
Called “The Grand Getaway,” the virtual reality experience will revolve around the wallace and gromit vacation and will be released in 2023 on the Oculus Store for Meta Quest.
It will be available in Meta Quest 2, a new virtual reality headset from the company that is part of Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta holding company, formerly Facebook.
The project is fully funded by Meta Quest and will be a co-production between Aardman and Atlas V.
Atlas V has already created high-end virtual reality experiences, such as “Spheres” and “Gloomy Eyes.”
Wallace’s voice will be that of Ben Whitehead, something he has already done in previous “Wallace & Gromit” projects, replacing Peter Sallis, the original voice and who died in 2017.
“The Grand Getaway” is not the first foray of Wallace & Gromit’s adventures into spaces of this nature. Before, the franchise produced “The Big Fix Up”, a development that combined augmented reality and real-time technologies.
Like Wallace and Gromit: virtual reality, the next step for Marvel?
The strategy is in line with what many expect to happen with large projects, such as some of the Marvel series or characters: combining memorable characters and engaging storytelling with emerging technologies to offer fans a fully immersive experience.
For fans of Wallace & Gromit It will be the opportunity to enter their world and play an active role in the story.
Meta Quest 2 will enjoy”. Thomas added that it will be a “visually stunning, inventive and innovative immersive virtual reality experience.”
