A young waiter, who works to pay for his studies, went viral by announcing that in an account of 10 thousand he received a tip of 100 pesos.
In Mexico, to pay for their studies, many young people are forced to study and work at the same time, this being one of the most common practices for several years.
This is the case of a young man, who, in addition to studying at the university, works as a waiter in a restaurant and who, thanks to social networks, has gone viral due to a very peculiar case that, however, happens frequently.
His story was made known through Reddit, one of the many social networks that live on the web, and on this occasion the waiter shared some of his experiences working as a waiter.
In a way, this is the power that social networks have today; users sharing their experiences with hundreds, thousands or even millions of strangers, in order to find a little empathy or simple company.
Thus, the young man, who says he works on weekends, recounted his experience attending a family that came to the restaurant to eat for more than four hours.
In his story, the waiter says that his basic salary is not much, but that, with tips, he compensates a little for his earnings, although he emphasized the fact that 6 percent of tips is destined for the kitchen.
“This weekend a family came for dinner, one of those that ask you for the bottles that are not on the menu and you must be attending all the time. Total, after more than 4 hours they ask for the bill, of which there were more than 10 thousand varos. They divided it up and paid by card,” the young man wrote.
Now, in Mexico, when one goes to eat at a restaurant, it is common for the waiters to receive a 10 percent tip, proportional to the final amount of the bill to be paid; however, there are people (diners) who decide to give less than that 10 percent, while others give a little more.
According to the account of the young waiter, the diners said they would leave their tip in cash, but what was not expected was, of an account that was closed at 10 thousand pesos, consumers left only 100 pesos as a tip.
“When I see, they had left a hundred fucking pesos for the entire service. Quickly (and quite annoyed) I tell him that the recommended minimum is 10 percent, to which he replies: ‘Excuse me, but a thousand pesos of tip is too much, I’m leaving you just enough for me’. We provided excellent service, we made sure to change all the details that they wanted in their dishes and even put up with us when they whistled at us to talk to us”, explained the also student.
As if that were not enough, according to what the waiter said, now he has owed 500 pesos to the kitchen employees, since it was fair to receive the thousand pesos as a tip.
