Volkswagen reported in 2021 income of 250 thousand 200 million euros.
The company has acquired brands such as Audi, Bentley, SEAT, Porsche and Škoda.
Audi was the second leading manufacturer’s brand, accounting for about 21 percent of vehicle sales: Statista.
Volkswagen Beetle will have a new return, after several years of absence. This new model will be a 100 percent electric version, it should be noted that the automotive company has not made any official announcement, but the rumor arose as a result of the poster of an animated movie, the bad thing is that it is animated, but it was enough for them to emerge speculations.
Volkswagen aimed to expand its range of electric car models and take advantage of the growing European market for electric vehicles. This innovation is possible thanks to the constant increase in its investment in research and development up to around 15.6 billion euros in 2021.
Volkswagen has acquired other brands in recent years such as: Audi, Bentley, SEAT, Porsche and Škoda. In addition to its commercial vehicle segment, the automaker closed a deal to acquire US-based Navistar and owns Scania and MAN, two European commercial vehicle and engine makers. The Volkswagen Group also has stakes in the Ducati motorcycle brand.
In 2020, Audi was the second leading manufacturer brand, representing about 21 percent of the revenue from sales of VW Group vehicles and more than 17 percent of their sales. The luxury brand produced some 1.8 million vehicles worldwide in 2020, just below the 2.2 million of its main competitor, BMW. Audi also ranked high among consumer satisfaction in the United States above the brand of the same name of the VW Group.
Beetle arrives in the animated world with a new model
The rumor that Volkswagen could relaunch the Beetle model, but in an electric version arose from the poster of the movie ‘Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie’, whose premiere will take place on July 15.
According to data shared by Electrek, certain electric models of the brand will appear in the film. Three are included on the poster: the ID.Buzz, the ID.5, and the Aero Concept. The one that attracted the most attention was a fourth vehicle that appears in the center, we are talking about the VW Beetle, will it be?
“The endearing characters will live their adventures with different fully electric cars from our Volkswagen ID family,” the company mentions. However, far from this position, it has not clarified anything about the mysterious car that clearly has the silhouette of a Beetle, which creates confusion, because if this is an advertisement, it seems to not have the right channel, however there is no to get ahead
The first vehicle of this model was launched in 1939, designed by Ferdinand Porsche, who years later founded Porsche AG. Its success was such that Volkswagen had to expand its production outside the European continent, such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Venezuela.
Likewise, it should not be ignored that now the company’s strategy is focused on electric mobility, so it may be very likely that the Beetle will return, since even Klaus Bischoff, former design director, in 2017 said that the next Beetle could be electric.
On the other hand, it could just stay as a virtual model, as happened with Audiwho created a sports car called RSQ e-tronfor Twentieth Century Fox’s Spies in Disguise animated film, starring Will Smith voicing the main character.
The vehicle was created in conjunction with Blue Sky Studios, a design that combines automated driving with Artificial Intelligence and transformation technology, run by spy Lance Sterling.
