In the month of May 2022, the production of vehicles in Spain has reached 183,830 units. A volume of vehicles manufactured in Spanish territory that, compared to that registered in the same period of time last year, represents a small growth of 0.5%.
The vehicle production in Spain has finally ended the negative streak that had been dragging on. Throughout the past month of May 2022 Spanish factories have produced a total of 183,830 vehicles. A volume of units that, if compared to that obtained in the same period of time the previous year, translates into a small 0.5% growth. The first growth for 11 months.
This improvement has been possible thanks to the supply of materials. All this in a context in which the global shortage of microchips and the shortage of certain components that come directly from Ukraine continue to be suffered. Unfortunately, the small growth in May has not served to reverse the bad data accumulated so far this year.
In the period between January and May 2022, the production of vehicles in Spain accumulated 902,680 units, 12.6% less than in 2021. If we look back even further, specifically to the year 2019 (pre-pandemic period), we will find that 373,053 fewer vehicles have been produced up to May, which represents a sharp decrease of 30% respectively.
