Medical consultations have become a controversial issue, especially because they are conceived with a certain degree of elitism by some people.

Platforms like TikTok were in charge of showing different informative videos around the Covid-19 pandemic.
In social networks, a debate was opened on the alleged “abuses” around the prices of medical consultations in contrast to other jobs, specifically the price paid for wedding makeup.
This issue has different perspectives and positions, however, the issue of the pandemic comes into play as one of the central focuses of the discussion. Through Twitter, it is how it has been possible to know the opinion of a sector of the digital community on this subject.
Social media and its impact
Social networks have embarked on an important path towards the consolidation of digital platforms. Currently, networks like Twitter, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram continue to change the way we understand entertainment.
In fact, according to a study by We Are Social, Hootsuite and DataReportal, Mexico is considered in 2022 the second country in Latin America that registers the most internet users per day, with 96 million online users during the day to day.
In short, it has been revealed that, at present, there are nearly five billion people connected to the Internet and, of course, to social networks, of which it is Facebook the one that leads the market with just over three billion registered users so far.
Other platforms, such as YouTube, Instagram or TikTok have also reported significant growth, but it is the Chinese social network that has attracted the most attention during the last couple of years (2020 and 2021).
Since the arrival of the pandemic, the name of TikTok began to appear in the main trends in several countries, to such an extent that, in 2021, the platform created by ByteDance has already exceeded one billion active users in just five years since its foundation.
Likewise, the Twitter platform has become one of the favorites of users due to the potential it has to generate conversation in the world.
Users start debate for “abuse” in prices of medical consultations
It was through a publication made by a user on social networks that this topic was brought to the table. in said tweetthe user shared the following:
“A bridal makeup is worth up to $10,000 and is socially accepted, but if a health professional charges $1,000 for the consultation, they call it abuse. In short, everyone their Maslow pyramid“.
And it is that the subject in question was especially put into perspective once the Covid-19 pandemic became present, because then there were many testimonies of how many doctors “supposedly took advantage” of the situation to charge more for their work.
However, something that also happened, as a consequence, was that many professionals learned to value their work based on what it cost to make a living in those days. Therefore, many doctors began to express themselves through social networks, demanding decent wages and fair payments in terms of consultation.
This is what the user said in his tweet shared:
A bridal makeup is worth up to $10,000 and is socially accepted, but if a health professional charges $1,000 for the consultation, they call it abuse.
In short, everyone their Maslow pyramid.— dr_odontoAnvaz (@OdontoAntonio) September 8, 2022
As a result of this, a conversation was generated where what was said was criticized and supported in different proportions:
One thing has nothing to do with the other.
Makeup involves approximately 5 hours of work.
(Makeup test and the day of the event)
Payment of the makeup artist and hairdresser.
The makeup kit costs about $100 thousand.
In that package includes drinks and private space.– Brisia W 🧙🏽♀️ (@BrisiaDanti) September 8, 2022
Currently the appearance has a high value. The makeup looks very pretty and is all that matters to the bride. Of course, each one decides where the value of it inclines, but generally it is outward, towards the approval of others.

Private consultations are also a luxury, we live in a country where by law there is a universal right to health. If you don’t want to go to the imss/issste/insabi, you have to pay and the only one who decides how much to charge is the one who offers the service.

And it is that the conversation is not whether or not one profession is more important than the other, but how necessary one is with respect to the other, especially rethinking the issue of the pandemic and the current condition of the country, where even is looking for medical personnel for national institutions. For this reason, the answer is probably not found in social networks, but in the criteria of each person or in the criteria of a possible price regulation by the Government, as has happened in other nations.
