episode 3 of The Last of Us It quickly gained relevance among viewers and received all kinds of criticism. The vast majority defined it as one of the best chapters in the history of television. But just as many were upset by its inclusive narrative in which two men share a romantic life in the midst of the apocalypse. Said group of discontents not only flooded the networks with negative opinions, but also formed a front with the mission of harming the reviews and ratings of the episode on measurement websites.
As reported MRthe most recent episode of the HBO series fell victim to the review-bombing on IMDb. A tactic exercised by fans to discredit a work, giving the lowest rating continuously to affect the final evaluation of it.
Of the 100 thousand 143 people who voted for the episode, 28 thousand 791 people gave it an optional rating star of up to 10. The contrast is striking after observing that 51 thousand 361 people voted the chapter with 10 stars. A little more than 11 thousand people were located in the nine and eight stars. The result was a final rating for the episode of 7.9, which is low compared to the 9.2 of the previous two.
The Last of Us It is set in a world hit by a pandemic that turned the vast majority of humans into a kind of fungus-infected zombie. The survivors search for a way to engineer a cure and rebuild the world. And in that mission it seems that Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bela Ramsey) have a better chance of achieving it.
However, episode 3 diverted the narrative to the story of Bill and Frank. Two survivors who met after the disaster and managed to fall in love even at the cost of a cracked world. Long, Long Time traces their life together over the course of 20 years and shows the viewer that love can blossom as strong as the most infectious cordyceps.
Although, for much of the specialized critics and many viewers, the episode was an interesting way to show romance in the midst of the catastrophe, many other users believe that it is nothing more than inclusive propaganda.
IMDb user rubenoftheorchard considered that episode 3 of The Last of Us he lacked action. «This is not a romantic series, it is a series about zombies. This episode has no action and 90% has nothing to do with the plot of the series. It’s just two guys in one house.”
Other users opined against the LGBT narrative of the episode. Therealjaysmoke believes that the producers of the series should be ashamed for dedicating an entire chapter to a story with homosexuals at the forefront.
“It’s really sad to see how this LGBTQ propaganda is actually being shoved down our throats. Really. It’s not like half of humanity is gay, I bet not even 1% of humanity is gay, so why is this minority forcing the rest of us to put up with this unnatural act? I don’t understand”.
On the Metacritic website, the series also received low reviews from users. As of this writing, of the 894 negative reviews, 359 were positive, 46 mixed, and 489 negative. Episode 3 of the series got a final average of 4.5, as opposed to 8.7 and 8.6 for the first and second episodes respectively.
On social networks like Facebook, users also reacted negatively to the episode. Other opinions state that it bears little resemblance to the video game. And that the romance plot deviates from the element of mystery and suspense that the series had presented so far.
Despite the negative reviews, the specialized press considers that it is one of the best episodes of the series. On sites like Rotten Tomatoes where users don’t weigh in, Long Long Time has a 97% positive consensus with 33 professional review count.
The Last of Us It will continue its broadcasts every Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.
