I’ve been wanting to talk about it for a long time. Surface LaptopGo and the experience of upgrading to Windows 11. Although, at first not the most attractive Surface product, the truth is that then it is like a well adjusted car. His performance in office automation was excellent… But let’s not get ahead of the events that occurred a few months ago.

Surface Laptop Go, an outstanding office automation in Windows 11
The people of Microsoft Spain offered us the opportunity to once again experience making the leap to Windows 11 and, this time, with one of the cheapest devices in the Surface family. The Surface Laptop Go adjusts its price to reduce the quality of your screen and offer a plastic chassis compared to the usual magnesium or aluminum.
But as we’ve indicated, offering a well-tuned PC has allowed Microsoft to upgrade this PC to Windows 11 and run very smoothly. The process is the usual one, we look for the update in Windows Update and we carry out the whole succession until updating to Windows 11.
Once updated we have the new Start Menu and everything works normally. Its trackpad works great and the fingerprint reader integrated into the power button did not give the slightest problem after the update to Windows 11. The tests we carried out, which we could not record after contracting Covid, went smoothly if we are looking for a office equipment.
Surface Laptop Go’s large trackpad and touchscreen make it navigation is very comfortable in any situation. If we add to that its weight of just over 1 kilogram, it is a laptop through and through. Yes indeed, Microsoft should forget about eMMCs once and for all and 128GB storage to offer something more interesting to its users. We would also have preferred a conventional screen along with a FullHD resolution… A resolution of 1536 x 1024 for 614 euros is unacceptable.
I was initially averse to this model due to specs and price. However, now, after having tried it, it is a very interesting piece of equipment for office automation when we find an interesting offer. The hardware isn’t quite right for its price, but it makes up for it with other elements, including seamless operation.
Conclusion: Windows 11, good; Surface Laptop Go progresses well
The conclusion we reach with this Microsoft proposal is that Windows 11 works well on more modest computers. In fact, I am writing this article from the classic HP 229SS with a 4th generation Intel i7. That is something positive for all those who are considering taking the leap.
The Surface Laptop Go is the first iteration of this family of products and offers interesting elements such as rounded edges on the screen or a more rubbery keyboard (which is not bad). We hope that in its next iteration the eMMC option will be removed as well as the screen will be improved. They are undoubtedly the two critical elements, along with the 4GB of RAM, that must change to have a first-class product.
