- Although these are new features, it seems that they are not gaining the expected popularity
We know of the effort that Twitter is generating in recent weeks with its new monetization features for creators. However, these are not having the expected success.
Every day we see how social networks become commercial spaces, showcases for brands to design their sales strategies with content creators.
Within this panorama, the social networks that have benefited the most from this increasingly relevant trend are, of course, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, which have a great reach and potential to reach millions of users.
In that sense, the arrival of the pandemic further strengthened the space for sales – and for content creators or influencers – on social networks.
Twitter and its monetization efforts
Of course, seeing the enormous potential that social networks have for such purposes, Twitter also wanted to join the trend, although it took a while to do so.
Since a few weeks ago, Twitter began to launch new functions or tools in order for content creators to begin monetizing through the platform. In this way, he presented Fleets, Twitter Blue, Super Follows, Spaces, Communities and more.
With all these weapons, and taking into account the popularity of Twitter, it seemed that everything was given for the social network to join the competition with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. However, it is not being enough.
To mention an example, in November of last year, the Fleets, their section of short videos very similar to the Reels of Instagram, arrived on Twitter. In less than a year, the Fleets were discharged due to the lack of popularity they generated.
Now, its Fleets is not the only tool that is not working on Twitter, but rather several of the ones it has launched lately, which could even be removed from the platform, a fact that, without a doubt, would fall on the image of the social network.
New features with little success
According to data from TechCrunch, Twitter’s Super Follows are not generating the expected impact either. Reportedly, in its first two weeks, this feature totaled around $ 6,000, a fairly low amount.
Although it is true that, at the moment, Super Follows is only available to users in the United States and Canada, the truth is that they are very low numbers, since in the country of the stars and stripes there are around 72 million users daily assets.
On the other hand, there is also the case of Twitter Blue, a function that allows users to pay for tweet retrieval, as well as for new color options. It should be noted that this tool is only available in Australia and Canada at the moment, but it does not seem to offer much appeal to users.
The same is the case for its Communities, a tool that, according to TechCrunch, is not generating the expected impact on users either. Of course, you have to remember that this function came out very recently and knowing if it is successful or not is still very early.
The situation with Twitter is that, according to TechCrunch, there seems to be little momentum from users for all the tools that the social network has launched.
They are new functions, they are still in the process of being accepted by Internet users. In that sense, it may be a matter of time before they begin to gain followers. We will see if, over time, they position themselves among users or, failing that, the social network unsubscribes them.
