- On September 5, 1969, the CDMX Metro was inaugurated.
- It is the busiest transportation system in Mexico and in 2021 alone it was used by more than two million people every day.
- During the last years it has been affected by accidents marked by the crash of trains and the collapse of bridges.
The CDMX Metro is involved in a new controversy due to a serious accident that occurred on the morning of January 7. The incident occurred between Potrero and La Raza stations on line 3. A crash between trains caused a preliminary balance of four people pressed, 16 injured and at least one deceased.

The news about the fatal victim was confirmed by Omar Garcia Harfuch, who is the head of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City. Similarly, the Head of Government of the capital, Claudia Sheinbaumwho was in Morelia, added that he will immediately go to the place of the event to verify what happened.
For their part, the authorities of the CDMX subway reported the suspension of the service of the stations Green Indians to Guerrero. While immediately different rescue groups went to the point of the accident to help the affected people.

The first to arrive were paramedics, who treated the passengers who were on the two trains that collided. Several dozen people have been reported with nervous breakdowns due to what happened. For this reason, outside the Potrero station, tents were set up to provide emotional service.
While other rescue groups have already begun with the transfer of people with physical damage to nearby hospitals. The most recent report indicates that there are 16 that have been sent to hospitals to be reviewed.
Due to the magnitude of the tragedy, the support of firefighters has also been required. While the army activated the DN3 program to protect the population in case of natural disasters.

While the authorities of the CDMX subway They indicated that an investigation folder has already been opened to identify the cause of the accident. So far it is unknown what caused this event that adds to a chain of tragic incidents in which it has been involved in recent years.

One of the most recent occurred on the night of May 3, 2021 when a section of line 12 between the Olivos and Atlalilco stations collapsed. The news went around the world because it caused the death of more than 20 people and the partial closure of line 12 of that transport system.
While on March 11, 2020 there was also a crash between trains at the Tacubaya station. As a consequence there were 41 people injured, of which one died.
For now, García Harfuch shared a list with the names of the people injured by the train crash on line 3 and the hospital to which they were transferred.
