Toyota’s electric car strategy has done nothing but start. A new range that is part of the bZ sub-brand and that will offer a parallel range to those of combustion in the coming years. The future Toyota bZ2 will be a new SUV, a bet that we anticipate in this recreation.
Toyota has entered fully into the electric car market. The Japanese firm will continue to sell combustion and hybrids until the next decade, but has already confirmed the launch of up to 30 zero emission models in 2030 between the markets of Europe, Asia and the United States. That means that, in just under eight years, there will be a range of models parallel to the current one, with different bodies but the common denominator of electrical energy as propulsion.
The first is already receiving price lists in Europe. It is the new Toyota bZ4X, a crossover that occupies a segment abandoned by the brand a few years ago, when the Avensis fell and at the height of the RAV4. But in the portfolio of new Toyota launches there are more, small and large, and among them the one that we advance you today in this recreation: the one from the future Toyota bZ2.
The future Toyota bZ2 will be an electric alternative to the Yaris Cross
The firm knows that the issue of design is a priority, so this will be a quality that will remain practically intact compared to the concept anticipated, following the same principle as that of the recently released first model of «Beyond Zero», with a very angular silhouette and with a certain state-of-the-art headlight design. This will be a special peculiarity of a model that has the mission of standing out in the competitive segment B in the face of the important competition that lies ahead.
The future bZ2 is yet another of the models based on the new special platform for electric cars «e-TGNA». The big difference with the equivalent crossover in combustion will not only be the fact that will provide a large interior spacebut will have one or two electric motors, offered with front-wheel drive and also with all-wheel drivesince the firm has also taken charge of registering the commercial name of «bZ2X». A system that is not available on the Yaris Cross. Talking about power in a model that will arrive in the middle of the decade is complicated, but the Japanese firm has electric motors with a minimum power of 80 kW and a maximum of 150 kW, equivalent to 109 and 204 hp.
Neither of them will be in the future model, but they will be regulated by their control software to offer different versions with a level of power typical of the category, between 130 and 160 hp. What we do know is that the benefits will not be the real key that will make you stand out, but autonomy. Toyota will mount a battery with sufficient capacity so that, with a single charge, it can cover distances of up to 400 kilometersso one net capacity between 50 and 60 kWh -usable- will be concentrated between the axes.
