These have been heady years for Tom Holland. Since the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) until now, his figure has been exposed in multiple ways. His work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe was joined by other projects, such as Uncharted (2022), to carry more weight in that backpack. The result is the following: the interpreter is exhausted.
Among the young figures in the film industry, Tom Holland is among the most visible. Being one of the faces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because of his role as Peter Parker, a lot of what happens with him is relevant. If he looks at himself from his perspective, that can be uncomfortable, perhaps overwhelming. It is no coincidence that the actor, from time to time, disappears from social networks.
In this context, which includes the recent premiere of the series The Crowded Room, the actor opened up to reflect on what this series implied for him. In it, in addition to acting in a leading role, he also took part in some production tasks. This generated greater stress and exhaustion for the interpreter, who will take time away from the cameras.
Tom Holland leaves acting…for a brief time
As part of his care for his mental well-being, Tom Holland recently commented that he has spent more than one year sober. The actor is aware that his work demands strict physical care, but also that without a holy mind it is more complex to have a body in good condition.
It may be that, based on that comprehensive care, the actor has made the decision to stop for at least a sabbatical year. His most recent work, in The Crowded Room, left sequels. This is how he explained it during an interview with Extra TV: “We were exploring certain emotions that I had definitely never experienced before.” To the acting work were added responsibilities in another area of the project. About this, he said: “On top of the above, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day issues that come with any movie, I added that extra level of pressure.”.
Beyond that extra workload, Tom Holland takes some lessons, as he commented: “But I really enjoyed it. I loved the learning curve of becoming a producer. I am no stranger to hard work. I’ve always lived with this idea that hard work is good.“.
However, for the actor it is necessary to stop. This he said in relation to that idea: “The Crowded Room broke me There came a time when I thought: ‘I need to take a break.’ I disappeared. I went to Mexico for a week and spent some quiet time at the beach. Now I’m taking a gap year. That is the result of how difficult this program was. I’m excited to see how it turns out and I feel like our hard work was not in vain.”
This statement occurs in a context where the production of spider-man 4, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is under arrest due to the Hollywood film and television writers’ strike. Meanwhile, The Crowded Room can be seen through the platform AppleTV+.
