Tom Cruise is, today, the biggest star active in Hollywood. He has broken many records and his films have made history for his permanent fixation on making the stunt more daring in person without support of CGI graphics. But there is one thing pending: go to outer space.
But that is about to change, it is getting closer and closer and something extraordinary would have to happen so that the following statement does not soon become a reality:
Tom Cruise will be the first actor to travel into space to walk outside the International Station Station (ISS) for a fictional film.
If the story sounds familiar to you, it is because at the beginning of 2020 it was one of the most famous projects, where the actor held talks with SpaceX so that Elon Musk would take him up there to act on a tape.
But, as happened to all of us after getting through the first quarter of 2020, the production plans had to change drastically and the project had to be postponed entirely.
Now it’s time again for this star to make history.
Tom Cruise will go to space to walk outside the International Space Station
The BBC from London has interviewed Donna Langley, president of Universal Pictures, who has spoken directly about this new production that will be literally out of this world.
Where Tom Cruise will become the first actor to shoot a full walk out of the ISS in space:
“We have a big project in development with Tom that involves taking a rocket to the space station.
And hopefully he will become the first civilian to spacewalk outside the International Space Station. He will play a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save the Earth.”
Doug Liman, director of Edge of Tomorrow and The Bourne Identity would be the director responsible for this project, which would be exactly the same for which in 2020 the star established negotiations with NASA and SpaceX.
The film’s plot, according to Langley, primarily “takes place on Earth, and then the character needs to go into space to save the day.”
Langley claimed that Cruise and director Doug Liman floated the idea of shooting a movie aboard the International Space Station in 2020.
Where instead of relying on computer graphics technology they have decided instead to take Tom Cruise into space.
We do not know the stage of production in which the project is. But we can infer that there are years left to see this film released.
